Apple Picking

GOD BLESSED THIS BROKEN ROAD: #12 Go Apple Picking

A few weeks ago, D & I went apple picking in Shelburne. It was a pretty morning and we picked quite a lot of apples! I ended up making apple pie and apple crisp and we had a ton left over! Here are some pictures from our trip.

No turning back now.

So, I’ve got running the second half of the Burlington Marathon on my list of 101 things to complete in 1001 days and I was ready to do it last year, but about a month before the race, we had toe-gate 2011. Now that I’ve only got about 8+ months left, I’ve got no other choice but to do it this coming May or it becomes another item that adds to my charity donation for not completing. GMR said she’d be my partner and would run the first half for me. She’s making it so easy for me! So I guess that only means one thing – I’ll be entering the half marathon lottery in January.
By putting this out in the blog world, no matter how few/may people view this, means I can’t change my mind or turn back right?! As if GMR would let me anyway.

Negative Nelly

LAW ABIDING CITIZEN: #77 Don't say anything negative for a week (7/7)

This one was hard to define. Was saying the weather sucked negative? What about agreeing with someone's negative comment, statement or observation? I figured to be able to cross this off my list, agreeing with someone else's comments didn't count and nor would general statements "the weather sucks".

It wasn't that this was hard to complete, but I had to start over a few times as I wouldn't be conscientious of what I might be saying and would let something less than positive slip out. This item was a good practice in "thinking before you speak".

Play

COLLEGE OR JUPITER: #46 - Go to a play

As I was looking through my list of 101 things, I realized I had done this item back in October when D and I were in Myrtle Beach. One night we went to a dinner show (I'm calling it a play), Pirates Voyage. D had been to Medieval Times shows when he was growing up and vacationing here, but I had never been to something like this. It was different, but we had a great time!

"The action-packed allows guests to side with either the Sapphire or Crimson pirates, cheering them on as they duel and fight on the decks of two full-sized vessels, high in the riggings of the ships or in the 15-foot deep lagoon below."

A little southern belle

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: #32 Go to Tennessee.

Memorial Day weekend (25th-28th) my SIL went to Tennessee to visit our SIL & BIL. I hadn't been to TN since 2008 and G had never been. After an interesting day of traveling on Friday and getting in about 2 hours later then expected (and the longest wait for baggage ever) we arrived. We met Mr B for dinner then hit up Sonic (first time) for dessert shakes and o -rings. Saturday the girls went to the local Y for a morning sweat session. Then we spent some time at the pool where B & B live. B didn't want to join in on the Target festivities so it was another ladies adventure! After Target we went to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants Tako Yaki (SOOO good), followed by dessert at Orange Leaf, a fro-yo place; I was in heaven! Sunday we went to B & B's Church, went to lunch then spent some more time by the pool. That afternoon the ladies caught a movie, and a wrestling match going on in a grocery store parking lot! We picked B up and did a driving tour of Lee University (where B & B went to college), hit up Steak & Shake. B & B dropped us off at our hotel so we could pack and try and go to bed early since we had to be at the airport at 8 on Monday morning. Flying back home was uneventful and somewhat relaxing. We had a great trip and I'm so glad we were able to go. Another picture overload - get ready!

OCD at its best - packing!

GETTING THERE IS HALF THE BATTLE: #55 Hike a mountain.

My friend H and I hiked Mt Philo back in April (I know I'm late...). It was a really nice day, and it was more of a hike then I was expecting but we had fun and the views were great. Here are a few pictures.

DC

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: #27 - Go to Washington DC
In April I went on a quick (we're talking 48  hours) work trip to Washington DC. We had a work meeting all day Monday but we were able to sightsee Sunday and Monday night. We had a good time. Here are some pictures from my trip.
