New Neighbors

Last week D and I took a trip to Charlotte to pick out the lot we want to build on. While we were there, we stopped by the farm. Here are some pictures of our soon-to-be "neighbors".

GOD BLESSED THIS BROKEN ROAD #9 - Take an 'us' picture every month

Here is our 'us' picture for October. We were at our friend P's Halloween Party. (Yes, I was a lamo and didn't dress up. Derek had a costume but only wore it for about 20 minutes, and unfortunately I don't have a picture of it.)

NIGHT YOGA
As I mentioned in a previous post about my 101 things, I purchased yoga DVD's. One of the DVD's has morning and night routines. The night routines range from 10 - 40 minutes in length and usually involve light stretching and breathing exercises to help you relax. I've been doing the 10 or 20 minute routine every night for about 10 days and I have to say, I have seen a difference. I fall asleep so much faster / easier and I sleep so much better (little to no tossing or turning or waking up during the night).

Blog Tagging

My sister-in-law G was tagged with this little Q&A and tagged me, so I thought I'd join in a little blast from the past fun!

{1}: If you could be in any TV show when you were a kid what would it be?

This was hard to answer, I was a weird kid and loved Rescue 911.

However, since I would never want to be on that show, I would pick 7th Heaven and I'd want to be Mary - Jessica Biel's character.

{2}: What has been your favorite Christmas gift as a child?

As far back as I can remember, my parents have always given us an ornament. The ornament usually depicted something that happened between last Christmas and the one we were celebrating. For example, the year I turned 16, my ornament was a girl with a drivers license and car keys. The years I graduated high school and college the ornament was a girl in a cap and gown (school colors of course) with a diploma. Or the year we learned how to snowboard, we all got a snowboarder ornament. I look forward to those ornaments every year!

{3}: What actress would you want to play you if your life was a movie?

Jennifer Garner, maybe. I like that she seems down to earth and like a normal person.

{4}: What decade fad do you wish would come back?

I agree with Genevieve, I loved snap bracelets. But I also loved me some scrunchy socks! Especially when you had different colors and would layer them. Yeah, I was that cool.

{5}:What song describes your life?

God Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts <3

{6}: What was your favorite subject in school?

Elementary School - Reading.
Junior High - Language Arts with Mrs. Woolsey
High School - Junior Humanities with Mrs. Rhodes
College - Marketing & Nutrition and Fitness

{7}: If you could have a dream job for a day what would it be?

Its a tie between Wedding Planner and Interior Decorator.

{8}: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

Giraffe! They are my favorite zoo animal.

Yoga

GETTING THERE IS HALF THE BATTLE #58

I altered this item in that I didn't take a yoga class but purchased some DVD's so I could do it at home, and hopefully more consistently. I found a yoga for beginner's DVD pack online and did my first one this morning.

One of the DVD's has am/pm videos which are either 15 or 35 minutes long. So I did one of the 15 minute morning ones. Another DVD in the pack was yoga for inflexible people with video's ranging from 6 minutes to 45. I did a 6 minute which did the same three moves two times.

My goal is to try and get up and do one of the am and one of the stretching videos before I get in the shower. I'll have to update this later on and let you know how well I do with that!

Breast Cancer Walk

GETTING THERE IS HALF THE BATTLE #59

Today was the American Cancer Society's Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk. It started out a little windy and chilly but after the 1st mile, the sun came out and warmed up. It was a really pretty walk, lots of foliage and pretty views. I walked with my friend J, her mom and baby O.

Through my friends, family and co-workers I was able to raise $450.00 by the walk! Thank you to everyone who donated and/or supported me in this walk. I truely appreciate it and was so happy to have walked for my Nana <3

She runs she walks miles and miles for a cure

Saving

WOE IS ME #74 - Put 5% in the joint each month

I’ve set up an allotment to have $100.00 taken from my paycheck and put right into the joint account. This will happen every paycheck which is every two weeks.

So I altered this one a little bit. Instead of 5% each month, I’m doing a specific dollar amount which comes out to a little more than 5% and instead of happening every month, its happening every two weeks. And I won’t even have to think about it every paycheck!

Recipe Cards

FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD #89 & #90

So I finally finished these two tasks!

All my 'loose' recipes (ones I'd copied from my mom or printed off line) are now on index cards and organized under tabs like dinner, baked goods, appitizers ect. I bought a magazine holder and put our Food Network Magazines in there which helped as well.

I don't have a before picture, but this is what it looks like now:

Stowe Craft Fair

FOR MY NEAREST AND DEAREST # 32

On Saturday morning my mom and I headed to Stowe for their annual craft fair; something we have done together for a few years. As usual, we had a great time walking around, looking at all the amazing things and talking about what we would buy if we were super rich :)

We had a great time and saw some amazing folliage on our drive

BOOKS

THIS AIN'T YO MAMA'S BOOK CLUB # 52 & #53

A few days ago I finished reading Jame's Patterson's The Postcard Killers. I am never dissapointed by his books. They suck me in right from the beginning and the chapters as so short (a few pages each) that I find myself having an even harder time putting the book down!

By finishing this book, I managed to work on two goals at the same time:

#52 Read a book from the NYT best seller list each year,
#53 Read half the books I own, that I haven’t read yet

5K Run

GETTING THERE IS HALF THE BATTLE : # 56

I completed my first 5K since starting my 101. It was a Shelburne Farms at 8:30 this morning and yes, it was freezing!  It was not my best run ever - it wasn't a hard course, just couldn't find a good rythym and it seemed like FOREVER between mile markers. Oh well, I've got two more so hopefully I'll do better with each of those.

Here's a picture of me on the couch after I came home:

All Things Loved - September

I got this idea from my sister-in-law G and thought it would be a fun addition to add to mine. So here goes my first attempt at “all things loved” for September.

1. Laser (hair removal)
I had my last session this week. This means I shouldn’t really have much, if any, hair growth in my armpits or bikini area. Have to say, pretty psyched about this! Here is my laser lady E, she’s awesome!

2. Propel Fitness Water Packets.
I try to drink at least 12 glasses of water a day, more if I run. After 4 glasses, water isn’t fun to drink – at least for me. So I found these and absolutely love the raspberry lemonade flavor. I use them every day and they definatly help me drink a lot more water.

3. Where Men Win Glory – Jon Krakauer.

This is the book about Pat Tillman, the Arizona Cardinal’s football player that left the NFL and joined the military after 9/11. It was an amazing book and I’m glad I finally read it. It’s amazing the scarifies some people make because they feel they are the “right” thing to do.

4.Nike Fleece Pants.
I have these in two colors and have been wearing one or the other almost every day lately. They are so soft and warm. They are so nice to put on after a warm shower, cold run or to snuggle on the couch.

5. Completing my first 5K race.

M & I completed a 5K (my first) on September 18th, to benefit the Vermont State Police. It was fun to do and the entry fee went to a good cause.
